Serpis Sin Hueso

Serpis Sin Hueso

Grade: A

On a recent trip to Cozumel, I picked up this pack of olives at a local grocery store. Very good tasting olives, but the problem is, I'll probably never run into them again.

Pros:

Very good tasting olives

Not bitter

Cons:

Plastic packaging makes storing the olives a pain

Probably will never find these olives again

Judge Wapner Root Beer

Judge Wapner Root Beer

Grade: A

I found this root beer at a local store that has unusual soda. I wasn't expecting much, and can't understand why they decided to call this soda Judge Wapner Root Beer, but this root beer was great. Now for my rant... I think they are about 20 years too late for this soda. Yea, it's a great little novelty soda, but how many of the younger generation even know who Judge Wapner is? They would be better off renaming this soda and it would probably sell better.

Pros:

Tastes Great.

Very Smooth.

Very good root beer flavor, no aftertaste.

Much better than commercial brands of root beer (Barq's, Mug, etc)

Cons:

Why name it after a semi celebrity that was popular in the 80's/90's?

The Varsity Chili

The Varsity Chili

Grade: C

While watching the Atlanta Falcons playing on Thursday Night Football one night, they came back from a commercial break and were showing a drive in called The Varsity. I was interested so did a search and found that they sell their "famous" chili online. I ordered a few cans and what I found was a mediocre, normal tasting "canned" chili. If this is what Atlanta thinks is good chili, then they must like mediocre ordinary food. To be fair, the chili might taste better in the restaurant than the canned one they sell.

Pros:

Okay chili, not great.

A tiny bit better than regular canned chili (not much better though)

Cons:

Expensive to buy online.

No WOW factor.

Too much hype for a mediocre product.

Might as well buy a store brand chili in the can for a cheaper price.

Oliveology Shave Gel

Oliveology Shave Gel

Grade: A

I really thought that this shave gel would just be hype, but it's really a very good shave gel that is only available online right now. Can only be ordered through their website, www.oliveology.com

Pros:

Gives you a very nice close shave

Product really does moisturize your skin when you use it on a daily basis

Compared to regular shaving cream, my late afternoon/evening shadow was no more

Odorless and clear

Cons:

Is a little more expensive than regular over the counter shaving gels.

Polar Strawberry In LIght Syrup (Jar)

Polar Strawberry In Light Syrup (Jar)

Grade: D

Picked this up in the dollar section of a local store. It was only a dollar, but definitely not worth the dollar.

Pros:

The Strawberries look nice in the jar.

Nice jar.

Cons:

Strawberries were mushy.

Strawberries did not taste like strawberries, but more like the syrup that it was sitting in.

Do not what you use these strawberries for since they do not have a good strawberry taste.

Sangaria - Party Pop Soda (AKA Kid's Beer)

Sangaria - Party Pop Soda (AKA Kid's Beer)

Grade: C

I recently picked this up at a local store, they started selling strange sodas in the store and I found this soda there. At first I thought it was just a regular soda, but after doing research on the soda, I found on some Asian websites that this soda is known as kid's beer and is designed for kids, so that they can pretend to have a beer. Strange!

Pros:

Tastes a little like a green apple soda

Very foamy and bubbly (like real beer)

Looks exactly like beer

Cons:

Kind of flat tasting

Not really that great, not bad, but not great.

It's just wrong to give kids a drink and let them pretend like it's beer.

UPDATE:

Here is the link to the Sangaria webpage that describes the soda:

and a video of an advertisement for the product:

Hormel Chili Master Three Bean Chili

Hormel Chili Master Three Bean Chili

Grade: B-

Pros:

Has nice pieces of green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes

Pull off lid

The "can chili" flavor is very faint

Tastes pretty good

Cons:

Even though the "can chili" flavor is slight, its still there

Does not compare to homemade chili

World Market Olives Stuffed With Cocktail Onion

World Market Olives Stuffed With Cocktail Onion

GRADE: C

Pros:

Nice firm olive

Nice and salty tasting

Cons:

The onion taste could be a little more pronounced

Just average tasting, nothing pushes this product over the edge

I love olives, but this cocktail onion stuffed olive from World Market is average at best. I paid $4.99 for the jar which is on the average price side of products like this, but because of the average flavor I kind of found it disappointing. Would I buy this again? Probably not, there are many more stuffed olives that are much better than this!

M&M'S Pretzel

M&M's Pretzel

GRADE: D

Pros:
Tastes like regular M&M's which is good

Cons:
No pretzel taste

No sweet & salty combination described on the bag

I picked up a bag of these at the local Wal-Mart for about $0.89, and thought that a combination of salty pretzel and a candy M&M shell would be a great combination, but I was wrong. I've had chocolate covered pretzels before and it is very good. This product just fails... there is no salty pretzel taste, the pretzel inside the M&M seems stale, and it's more of a malted milk ball than a pretzel surrounded by a M&M shell. Now, I know people will say that these taste good, and they do, because it tastes just like a regular plain M&M, but the product is call M&M'S Pretzel, which it does not taste like, so the product fails and gets a D on the Abitaman scale.

Burger King Fire Grilled Ribs

Burger King Fire Grilled Ribs

Grade: B-

Abitaman reviews the new Fire Grilled Ribs now available at Burger King.

Pros:
Had a good flame grilled taste, the meat was quite tasty

Is a real (mini) rib on a bone, unlike McDonald's McRib

Overall had a nice texture and was good

Cons:
Kind of on the expensive side for mini ribs

Inconsistent size (some are very small, some bigger)

The BBQ sauce given with the ribs is just below mediocre

Great Van Holten's pickle flavor mixed with a little sweetness

Great tasting pickle

Very good taste combination of sweet and tangy flavors

Sweetness doesn't overpower the Van Holten flavor, it compliments the tangy flavor
